Clinton: Gadhafi may be using cluster bombs

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration said Thursday that Moammar Gadhafi's government may be targeting Libyan civilians with cluster bombs, cautiously endorsing claims by rebels and human rights groups that the Libyan strongman's troops are using the indiscriminate weapon on the western city of Misrata.

Attacks by Gadhafi's forces have been deplorable, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said. Despite outlining more examples of what she termed Gadhafi's "inhumanity," Clinton refused to signal any new course for the United States to help anti-government forces in their war to end four decades of dictatorship.

Dems: Sanchez likely to run for Texas Sen. seat

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democratic officials said Monday that retired Army Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez is expected to run for the U.S. Senate in Texas, giving Democrats a high-profile recruit to fill the seat being vacated by GOP Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss private conversations with Sanchez.

Sanchez is a retired Army lieutenant general and was commander of coalition forces in Iraq when revelations about prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib became public. He gave up his command in June 2004 and has since maintained that he never authorized torture at the prison. He retired from the military in 2006, blaming the Abu Ghraib scandal for his retirement.

Lightning bounce back with 5-1 over Penguins

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Martin St. Louis didn't need three broken teeth to provide any more motivation in helping the Tampa Bay Lightning bounce back in their first-round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"My motivation is we were down 1-0," St. Louis said. "It's not because I lose teeth."

Either way, the diminutive forward put some bite back in a Lightning offense by scoring a goal and adding an assist in a 5-1 victory Friday night in Game 2 of the best-of-seven series.
